Quantum Sources for Space or Laboratory (EPS/FPS)
Welcome to our photon sources
At qtlabs, we are proud to offer quantum sources that are the result of decades of in-house research, development, and innovation. Designed for compatibility with both laboratory and space-based quantum communication systems, our sources support core QKD protocols and are advancing steadily along the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) pathway toward full space qualification, partially supported by the European Space Agency (ESA).
Product Portfolio
1. Entangled Photon Sources (EPS)
- Protocol Support: Designed for BBM92 (entanglement-based) QKD protocol.
- Operating Wavelengths: Available for ~800 nm and exclusive for space only applications in ~1550 nm
- Applications: Ideal for advanced quantum communication setups including satellite-to-ground links and quantum networks requiring entangled photon pairs.
2. Faint-Pulse Sources (FPS)
- Protocol Support: Optimized for BB84 (prepare-and-measure) QKD protocol.
- Operating Wavelengths: Offered in both ~800 nm and ~1550 nm ranges.
- Applications: Suitable for ground-based QKD setups and space payloads requiring precise, low-intensity single-photon pulses.
Space-Ready Design
Our quantum sources are being developed with space deployment in mind, including:
- Compact and robust form factors for satellite integration
- Radiation-hardened components and environmental resilience
- TRL-aligned development roadmap to ensure compliance with ESA and other international space qualification standards
- TRL – 6 in 2026
- TRL – 7 in 2027
Deployment Versatility
Whether for use in laboratory applications, free-space optical links, or low-earth and geostationary orbit payloads, our quantum sources offer exceptional reliability, stability and performance.
